I always wanted a sister…
Actually, my request was an older brother and a younger sister, but much to my chagrin neither was in the cards and I was left with a shih tzu named Misty to share all my secrets with. The good news is that she couldn’t spill them to my parents, but the bad news was that she could never give me any advice.
Should I call him? Should I not? Do these pants make my butt look big? Should I wear this skirt instead? It was always the same response – wide puppy dog eyes with a slight head tilt – otherwise known as zero help.
While I navigated my way through life, I learned a lot along the way, but I didn’t realize how much I had learned until I visited my alma mater (the University of Massachusetts – Go Minutemen!) to participate in an alumni event. I was thrilled to take a trip down memory lane revisiting all the good times and the bad, but it took every ounce of willpower I had to keep my mouth shut when I overheard a group of girls venting about their latest problems.
There were so many experiences and life lessons that I wanted to share with them, but one of those lessons was that unsolicited advice is not always welcome. Since I don’t have a sister to impart all this wisdom on, I decided a blog was the next best thing.
I want you to benefit from my mistakes, challenges and triumphs and I want to motivate and inspire you to become the best version of yourself and go on to be wildly successful in whatever path you choose.
Welcome to the family!
